What’s the difference between OEM, compatible,
remanufactured and refilled cartridges?
• An OEM cartridge is manufactured by the original equipment manufacturer.
• A compatible cartridge is a cartridge that has been manufactured using new
materials and built according to the OEM manufacturer’s specifications. This
ensures the same or better performance as an OEM cartridge.
• A remanufactured cartridge is recycled and reprocessed from an original
cartridge. The remanufacturing process encompasses the highest level of
cartridge cleaning, key component replacement, and refilling with specifically
matched ink and/or toner.
• Refilled cartridges are simply injected with universal ink at onsite machines
in stores; mixing remaining old ink inside the used cartridge with often
substandard universal ink – Solano Ink & Toner does not sell refilled ink
cartridges.
What are the benefits of remanufactured and compatible cartridges?
• Remanufactured and Compatible Cartridges are an economical
option to OEM cartridges. OEM cartridges cost an average of 50%-80% more.
Solano Ink & Toner sells remanufactured and compatible cartridges that work
as well as OEM cartridges. It’s important to note that your equipment
manufacturer cannot void your equipment warranty or service contract for using
remanufactured or compatible cartridges.
Will using remanufactured and/or compatible cartridges void my printer’s
warranty?
• No. Congress has passed laws making that illegal
because if a manufacturer can force you to buy certain supplies, they can
overcharge you for those supplies and threaten to void your warranty if you buy
from a competitor. It would be like a car manufacturer demanding you buy only a
certain gas that costs $12.00 a gallon or else they’ll void your warranty. It
discourages competition and fairness for you, the consumer. Here is an excerpt
of the law for you to read:
MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY IMPROVEMENT ACT
United States Code Annotated
Title 15 Commerce and Trade
Chapter 50 Consumer Product Warranties
15 Section 2302
“(c) No warrantor of a consumer product may condition his written or implied
warranty of such product on the consumer’s using, in connection with such
product, any article or service (other than article or service provided without
charge under the terms of the warranty) which is identified by brand, trade, or
corporate name; except that the prohibition of this subsection be waived by the
commission if:
1) The warrantor satisfies the Commission that the warranted product will
function properly only if the article or service so identified is used in
connection with the warranted product, and
2) The Commission finds that such a waiver is in the public interest.”
• You cannot be denied warranty work for using a
remanufactured or compatible cartridge.
How do I return or exchange product?
• Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for details. Contact us and tell us you want to return an
